Since 1998, the BLM Prineville District has required boaters on the John Day Wild and Scenic River to complete a boater permit at the launch point prior to boating. Boaters now have the opportunity to obtain their boating permit on-line at this site. Currently, there is no fee for boating, and there is no limit on the number of permits available. Boating permits will continue to be available at the launch points.
